TEN TIPS TO GIVING GOOD EMAIL
By: Hazen Reed

1. Keep your email "on brand"
Do not send your list completely unrelated emails, your brand cannot afford it
2. Make your Subject lines short but real and on-target
Use select keywords and phrases
3. No ! FREE$$$$
These just scream JUNK MAIL
4. Solve their problems
Know your customer's needs and provide answers and solutions
5. Be brief, link to your web site
Your alpaca website should do the heavy lifting, don't make your customers read a novel in their in-box. Give then a taste and then a few specific action links.
6. Use sub-headings and bullet points
We don't read anymore, we scan. Make your content scan-able and graphically readable.
7. Send out relevant information, not spam
If you don't have anything to say, don't send email. And don't send to the wrong target audience, they'll still think it's junk if it does not meet their needs.
8. Feature special content
Always have a single feature. Don't include everything and the kitchen sink. Make each email specific.
9. Design your email messages.
Text email is ok, but most people can receive html email. Take advantage of the opportunity to further implant your logo and branding in your customer's mind.
10. Allow customers to update and unsubscribe
If they want out, let them leave.
